A Thoughtful, Structured Approach to Therapy

At Deborah Kirkland Counseling, I provide a supportive, straightforward space where you can explore your mental health with clarity and without judgment. I specialize in working with adults navigating trauma and late-diagnosed autism, including those who have spent years feeling overwhelmed, misunderstood, or burned out.

With over a decade of experience in a trauma treatment center, I help survivors of abuse, PTSD, and complex trauma make sense of their experiences and regain a sense of stability and control.

Whether you’re coping with anxiety, depression, trauma, or a recent diagnosis, therapy can help you move from overwhelm to greater clarity, confidence, and connection.

My Approach

My work integrates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) within a trauma-informed framework.

This means therapy is:

  • Structured, but flexible

  • Practical and skills-based

  • Adapted to how you think, process, and experience the world

Areas of Focus

I specialize in helping adults navigate:

  • Anxiety – reduce chronic worry, overthinking, and physical tension

  • Depression – rebuild motivation, energy, and a sense of purpose

  • Trauma & PTSD – process difficult experiences and restore a sense of safety

  • Late-Diagnosed Autism – understand sensory needs, identity, and self-advocacy

  • Late-Diagnosed ADHD – develop practical strategies for focus, organization, and self-understanding
